The search is on for a new executive director for the Red Deer and District SPCA.
It was recently announced that Julie McInnis, current executive director of the shelter is resigning.
“It has truly been an honour and privilege to have worked with so many amazing, compassionate and dedicated people in our community – from donors and community builders to political leaders, board members and volunteers, City and County administrations; and especially with our remarkable staff,” said McInnis. “The changes we have achieved in the past 18 months are unbelievable. In such a short time we have transitioned from a slum-dog charity to being voted Red Deer’s gold charity of choice for 2011. This is a true measure of the hard work and commitment staff puts forward every day.
“My personal passion for what this organization stands for and continues to accomplish will always be here.”
McInnis joined the Red Deer and District SPCA in 2005 as development director to lead the Capital Building Campaign for the new facility. In 2009, she was recruited as executive director.
City Councillor and President of the SPCA Lynne Mulder said McInnis has played a large role in the organization over the past number of years.
“We have been very fortunate to have had someone with both the historical background and experience necessary to transition our organization into the business we are today. Both Julie’s leadership and business development skills have helped us grow today and plant the seeds for our future,” said Mulder. “Julie had taken the initiative to build a solid foundation for our charity as we move forward, by finalizing the construction and move to the new building, building our community value and profile, developing policy, defining and documenting protocols and processes, implementing our new in-house veterinary clinic, recruiting an amazing staff and volunteer team while implementing programs and ideas for revenue growth and sustainability.”
McInnis will resign at the end of July.
