I love surprises!
I also love presents but that doesn’t really relate to interior design, unless the present is an amazing decorative accessory.
Don’t you just love the commercial where the ladies are having a gift exchange and one gal pulls out an enormous vase? The other lady, quite obviously miffed, snarks about having a $20 price limit to which her friend replies with a wicked smile “We did.” Priceless!
Today I was invited to visit KGH Mechanical on Erickson Dr. in Sylvan Lake. Driving up to the building it appeared that I was driving into an industrial warehouse but when I opened the door and was greeted by Amy I was delighted to find a full on decorators dream show room. What a wonderful surprise for me to experience the unexpected in this business.
Modern displays were everywhere showcasing the latest trends in kitchen and bath sinks and hardware. Upstairs in the mezzanine you can browse full kitchen vignettes and lighting displays. This is truly a one-stop shop for those who are building or renovating and it is a much-needed showroom in this community.
What impressed me the most was the vast array of different products than we are used to seeing, they are displaying everything from basic stainless steel sinks to hand crafted Kohler vessel sinks – whatever your budget and imagination can create I am sure they have the products to finish your dream to perfection.
When you are embarking on a home project, be brave and decisive. Nothing is worse than putting time and money into home design only to have it turn out average, it can be an enormous letdown.
The product I saw this morning proves that you can use interesting finishes, especially in lighting and faucets and end up with a unique and truly custom product. I was especially drawn to a burnt umber low profile vessel sink which would look amazing in my guest bathroom – my profession can be expensive at times.
During the next few months, you might need a seasonal pick me up and a small renovation may be just the thing you need. A guest bathroom can be made over in a very short time and the results can be spectacular. It may help you cut your teeth on decorating and give you the confidence you need to tackle a larger project, or even deciding to build a new home.
Above all else, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I appreciate each and every one of you and the time you take from your busy lives to read this article. Your feedback and support are appreciated more than you can ever know! I hope to meet many more of you in 2011 as we embark on exciting decorating projects together. Have a happy, restful holiday season.
