This past Saturday night the Awards of Excellence in Housing for the Canada Home Builders Association-Central Alberta (CHBA-CA) was held at the Capri Centre with over 500 of Red Deer’s finest builders, trades, suppliers and professionals along with many local delegates and honored guests.
This Awards show has been two years in the re-making, while last year’s was a complete overhaul as Terry Loewen, owner of Platinum Homes and I re-invigorated the event to put front and centre the class that the membership of the CHBA-CA deserved and hadn’t had for a few years.
And what an amazing event it was! Our main Sponsors are placed front and centre on a beautiful ice sculpture, the flower arrangements were of course elegant, and for entertainment we had trapeze artists and acrobatics performed by Firefly Theatre out of Edmonton.
There are countless people to thank for making this event the success that it was, and I thank you all for making this one better than the last.

There are 21 awards to hand out, of which 12 are build categories for different price ranges of homes, and renovations. The other 9 are membership awards, in which the membership vote on each company in the association based on a few important factors such as professionalism and service just to name a couple, then are tabulated by our accounting firm to come up with the winners.
The crowning achievements are the “Builders of the year” awards of which there are two, one for large volume for those builders that build over 25 homes in a year, and small volume of the year, whom build 24 or less homes. The winner of the large volume category was Sorento Custom Homes, and winner of the small category went to Larkaun Homes.
In the end the biggest winner to come out of all of this is the consumer, without these companies all competing for your business they would not strive to be whom they’ve become without you.
