UPDATE: RCMP find no safety risk to the general public or employees at Nova Chemicals

RCMP received reports of the threat Thursday evening

RCMP have concluded their initial response to the threat received regarding the Nova Chemicals Plant in Joffre and have determined there is no safety risk to the general public or employees of the plant.

The investigation into the threat remains ongoing.

Updates to this investigation will be released as they become available.

Mounties remain investigating a threat targeting Nova Chemicals this week.

Police said in a statement Friday that the threats were made at multiple locations in Alberta.

“We will continue to work with the company and our policing partners to resolve the situation,” RCMP said.

The Alberta RCMP remain on scene investigating what if any risk exists. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Earlier today, the RCMP became aware of a threat directed to the Nova Chemicals Plant located near Joffre, Alberta.

RCMP take matters such as this very seriously and have taken appropriate action to determine the validity of the threat and ensure the safety of employees and area residents.

Police resources are in place and will remain in the area to confirm the property is safe.
