Construction of the roundabout at 67th St. and Johnstone Drive/Orr Drive is nearing completion and road closures on 67th St. will be in place this Saturday as the final paving work is completed.

The road closures will impact access to QEII Hwy. throughout the day and detours will be in place starting at 6 a.m., the intersection of 67th St. and Golden West Ave. will close; westbound traffic on 67th St. will be detoured on Johnstone Drive to Taylor Drive; westbound traffic on 67th St. will be detoured on Golden West Ave and 71st St. to Johnstone Dr.

Once this paving is complete at 67th St. and Golden West Ave, the intersection will re-open and the westbound lanes of 67th St. from west of the roundabout to the QEII Hwy. overpass will close.

To access QEII Hwy. from westbound 67th St., use 32nd St. or Hwy. 11A via Taylor Drive.

The roundabout will remain open for northbound, southbound and eastbound traffic.

When paving is complete on the westbound lanes, both the eastbound and westbound lanes from west of the roundabout to the QEII Hwy. overpass will close for a brief period of time.

To enter the City from QEII Hwy., use Hwy 11A or 32nd St. and Taylor Drive.

To exit the City use Hwy. 11A or 32nd St. via Taylor Drive.

The roundabout will remain open for northbound, southbound and eastbound traffic.

Next, the eastbound lanes of 67th St. from west of the roundabout to the QEII Hwy. overpass will close.

To enter the City from QEII Hwy., use Hwy. 11A or 32nd St. and Taylor Drive.

The roundabout will be open for all turning movements.

“We know road closures are an inconvenience, especially on a busy road like 67th Street,” said Wayne Gustafson, Engineering Services manager. “But paving is the final piece of major work that needs to be done and these closures should allow us to complete all of the remaining paving in one day over the weekend.”

The work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled to Aug. 27th if necessary. Dynamic message boards will be used to update drivers about the closures throughout the day.

Once the paving is complete, the roundabout and 67th St. will be fully open. Remaining work will include permanent lane marking and landscaping.
