With a range of prizes up for grabs including a ‘dream home’ in Southbrook, the Hospitals’ Home Lottery 2011 was launched Friday.
Proceeds from this year’s lottery, which is presented by the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation, will support the purchase of patient monitors in the Red Deer Regional Hospital’s intensive care unit, said Grant Edmonds, co-chair of this year’s Hospitals’ Home Lottery.
“We’re on a mission to generate a sell-out,” he said. “This is truly a cause that betters health care in our area.”
As of Friday, 40% of the tickets were already sold, he said.
The monitors provide information which is easily accessed and recorded from the patient’s bedside.
Clinicians will have the ability to monitor multiple patients and changing conditions no matter where they are located in the Central Zone.
The Foundation is again partnering with True-Line Contracting Ltd. for the stellar grand prize – a 2,400 sq. ft. dream home located at 52 Sisson Ave. in the area of Southbrook.
Highlights of the house, valued at $708,000, include cork and tile floors, quartz and Corian countertops, elegant finishing and an overall creative, modern design. Show home hours are noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Meanwhile, early bird prizes include a 2011 Prime Time Tracer 2600 RLS Trailer and 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT or $57,500 in cash.
There is also a bonus draw for a spot in either the 2012 Wayne Gretzky Fantasy Camp or a weekend excursion for the winner and one guest to join NHL players Jim Vandermeer, Derek Morris, Brandon Sutter, and Trent Hunter in Phoenix, Arizona. This includes a round of golf at the private course The Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale, bass fishing in Peoria with The Hookup Outfitters, flights, hotel accommodations and airport transfers.
The winner of the bonus draw can also opt for $10,000 in cash.
Rounding out the Hospitals’ Lottery prizes this year are a 2011 Ford Mustang convertible, a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Bob, a 2011 Honda CR-Z and a 2011 Dodge Journey. Other prizes include vacation packages,
a slate of electronics and a number of cash prizes.
Debbie Becker Matthie knows firsthand the importance of prompt care and the latest in medical equipment in the intensive care unit. In November of 2004, she spent six weeks in the ICU at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre following life-threatening complications from surgery.
“I am sure that I challenged everyone and all the technology in the intensive care unit,” she said. “Without these amazingly talented medical personnel and the best technology at their disposal, I would not be here today to watch my children grow. You have earned my most sincere respect and gratitude.”
Early bird cut-off for tickets is May 24 at 11 p.m. with the early bird draw set for June 7. The bonus draw cut-off for tickets is June 5 at 11 p.m. with the draw on June 17.
And the final day to purchase tickets is June 12, with the final draw on June 24. Tickets are $25 each, five for $100 or 15 for $250.
Last year, the lottery brought in more than $400,000 which went to the purchase of trauma equipment for the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
