Parking rates downtown will increase July 3.
During the 2012 budget, City council approved an overall increase of approximately 15% to all City-owned parking facilities. This increase comes into effect for all downtown on-street parking, City-owned parking lots, and Sorensen Station on July 3.
Parking at two-hour restricted on-street parking meters downtown will cost $1.15 per hour, an increase of 15 cents. Parking at two-hour unrestricted parking meters outside of the downtown core will cost 90 cents per hour, an increase of 15 cents. Parking at eight-hour unrestricted meters will cost 70 cents per hour, an increase of 10 cents.
Rates will also increase for City-owned parking lots. Lot P4, beside City Centre Stage, and lot P5, beside Sorensen Station, will increase to $1.15 per hour.
Lots P2, near Prairie Office; P3, behind Ranchers Valley Hotel; P6, the old Arlington Hotel location; and P9, on the corner of 46 St. and 51 Ave. will increase to 90 cents per hour. Parking rates for the remaining lots in and around the downtown will increase to 70 cents per hour.
Sorensen Station monthly rates will increase from $84 per month to $94.50 per month and to 90 cents per hour for daily parking, an increase of 15 cents per hour.
Motorists and people who work in the downtown can save up to 45 cents per hour or $3.60 per day when they park outside the core. The new ability to pre-pay for parking starting at 5 a.m. allows for increased flexibility for motorists who begin their workday at 8 a.m.
Parking fees are in effect Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. with free parking available Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
