Family law mediator and private practice paralegal Ryan McDougall has been selected as the Alberta Party candidate for Red Deer South in the 2019 provincial election.
“Red Deer South and our entire region was hit hard by the economic downturn. We need leadership in Alberta that understands some people feel left behind and has a real plan that will get the economy moving again,” said McDougall.
McDougall, 40, is new to politics and made the decision to run after phone calls and emails to local MLAs went unanswered. “I wanted to share ideas on how to improve access to legal services and improve our justice system, but no one responded to me. It was an eye-opener and pushed me to step up and get off the sidelines,” she said.
A Red Deer College graduate and single parent, McDougall chose the Alberta Party because she appreciates its conservative approach to financial matters and social progressiveness. “The Alberta Party takes a balanced, practical and people-first approach to getting things done,” she said.
McDougall’s official campaign launch is planned for September. Ryan’s full bio can be found here: www.ryanmcdougall.ca
