An elderly man and woman who were found dead in their Sunnybrook home died as a result of a murder-suicide.

Last week, Red Deer RCMP were investigating the deaths of a 93-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man who were discovered by family members in their Salisbury Ave. home Sept. 11 around 9 a.m.

“Although technically this was a murder-suicide, there were very tragic circumstances around this that truly make it a heart-breaking tragedy,” said RCMP Cpl. Kathe DeHeer. “The deaths were more of a result of assisted suicide.”

RCMP have closed the case and the names of the victims will not be released.
