Two men from Red Deer face charges after an incident in Lacombe last week.
On Aug. 1st at 7 p.m. Lacombe Police observed a suspicious van parked in the area of 58th St. and 56th Ave.
After further investigation one female and two male occupants were identified and arrested on outstanding warrants, during which time of one the males ran back to the vehicle. The member gave pursuit and attempted to stop the vehicle from fleeing by jumping in the back of the van and removing the keys from the ignition. The vehicle took off at a right rate of speed with the member trapped in the back. The vehicle stopped a short distance later, at which time the driver then fled on foot. The member sustained minor injuries during this incident.
Located in the van was a large quantity of stolen mail, along with break and enter tools.
Amanda Simmons, of Drumheller, was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with 25 counts of possession of undelivered mail, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of break and enter tools.
Jeremiah Newton, of Red Deer, has been charged with 25 counts of undelivered mail and one count of possession of break and enter tools.
Lacombe Police has obtained a warrant for the arrest of driver Justyn Bourne out of Red Deer.
